Job Summary**

The Damage Prevention Specialist Utility Locate is responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground utilities to prevent damage during excavation, ensuring public safety and infrastructure integrity within Cobb County, GA.

Job Responsibilities**

* Interpret and analyze utility maps, blueprints, and records to determine the precise location of underground utilities (e.g., gas, electric, water, sewer, telecommunications).
* Operate various locating equipment (e.g., electromagnetic locators, ground penetrating radar) to accurately pinpoint and mark utility lines with appropriate color codes.
* Communicate effectively with excavators, property owners, and other stakeholders regarding utility locations and safety precautions.
* Complete detailed and accurate documentation of locate requests, including sketches, photographs, and electronic records.
* Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and local/state regulations related to utility locating and damage prevention.
* Respond to emergency locate requests in a timely and efficient manner.
* Maintain and calibrate locating equipment to ensure optimal performance.
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex locate challenges.

Job Qualifications**

* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Previous experience in utility locating or a related field (e.g., construction, surveying) is preferred.
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
* Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and schematics.
* Proficiency in operating utility locating equipment.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and traverse uneven terrain.
* Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
