Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support key accounting operations for a Contract position based in Westbrook, Maine. This role will play an important part in maintaining accurate financial records, managing close activities, and ensuring the integrity of balance sheet accounts. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on accounting expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead critical monthly close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and financial results are recorded accurately.
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and a high level of attention to detail.
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing transactions, resolving discrepancies, and supporting overall financial accuracy.
• Perform account reconciliations on a recurring basis to confirm balances are complete, properly supported, and ready for review.
• Complete bank reconciliations by investigating variances and clearing outstanding items in a timely manner.
• Assist with identifying and correcting accounting issues to improve the reliability of financial reporting.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial information needed for reporting and close processes.
• Support accounting workflow updates or system-related process changes as needed within day-to-day responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of accounting experience in a senior-level or comparable role.
• Demonstrated experience managing month-end close activities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.
• Proven ability to complete account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with accuracy.
• Experience using Sage Intacct in an accounting setting.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to financial detail.
• Ability to organize multiple priorities and work independently while maintaining accuracy.

Compensation

$35.63-$42.00 Hourly
