Senior Payroll Specialist
We are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join a service-focused organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota in a contract capacity with potential for a permanent role. This role will oversee end-to-end payroll operations for a large employee population, ensuring timely and accurate processing across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, deep payroll expertise, and hands-on experience managing complex payroll environments, including U.S. and Canadian payroll.
Responsibilities:
• Lead complete payroll processing for more than 500 employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
• Manage payroll activities across multiple U.S. states and support Canadian payroll requirements with close attention to tax and statutory obligations.
• Oversee payroll audits, reconciliations, and issue resolution to maintain reliable records and consistent payroll performance.
• Administer payroll operations within ADP Workforce Now and help optimize workflows for efficiency and accuracy.
• Partner with finance, human resources, and other internal teams to address payroll questions, reporting needs, and process improvements.
• Support payroll-related system integration efforts and help ensure smooth alignment between payroll platforms and connected systems.
• Monitor regulatory changes affecting payroll practices and implement updates to keep processes compliant.
• Prepare and review payroll reports, summaries, and supporting documentation for leadership and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications:
• At least 5 years of payroll experience, including leadership responsibility in high-volume environments.• Proven background managing full-cycle payroll from data review through final disbursement and post-payroll reconciliation.
• Hands-on experience processing payroll for large employee populations exceeding 500 workers.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and practical exposure to Canadian payroll administration.
• Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now and confidence working within payroll systems and reporting tools.
• Experience supporting payroll system integrations or related implementation activities.
• Solid understanding of payroll compliance, taxation, deductions, and reporting requirements.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and discretion.
Compensation
