Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Execute accounts payable disbursements through multiple payment methods, ensuring invoices and supporting records are reviewed for completeness before release.
• Prepare employee expense reimbursements and provide regular reporting to payroll for timely processing.
• Handle remote deposit activity by submitting deposit information to the bank and posting related entries within the general ledger.
• Record incoming cash and receivable activity accurately, while maintaining organized backup documentation for each transaction.
• Create and post journal entries tied to daily operations, monthly close tasks, and year-end accounting requirements.
• Review accounting entries prepared by other finance team members for accuracy and proper general ledger posting.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting by setting up new assets, tracking retirements, calculating monthly depreciation, and reconciling subledger balances to the general ledger.
• Complete bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and record necessary adjustments in a timely manner.
• Maintain balance sheet account reconciliations, construction-in-progress tracking, and other supporting schedules needed for financial reporting.
• Support month-end close, annual budget uploads, record retention, and audit requests by preparing documentation and responding to information needs.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar general accounting role.• Hands-on experience with bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry preparation.
• Working knowledge of month-end close and year-end close processes.
• Experience with fixed asset accounting, including depreciation calculations and asset tracking.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of formulas for analysis and reconciliation work.
• Ability to manage financial records accurately and maintain well-organized supporting documentation.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to review entries for accuracy and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
Compensation
