Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day invoice and payment operations for a Contract position based in Plano, Texas. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong attention to detail, accuracy in financial processing, and confidence handling high-volume payable activities. The successful candidate will help maintain timely disbursements, ensure proper coding of expenses, and contribute to smooth accounts payable workflows.

Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices accurately and assign the correct general ledger or account codes before entry.
• Review submitted bills for completeness, verify supporting documentation, and resolve discrepancies with internal teams or vendors.
• Prepare and execute payment activities through ACH transactions and scheduled check runs in accordance with deadlines.
• Maintain organized records of payable documents to support audit readiness and efficient retrieval of financial information.
• Reconcile accounts payable transactions and investigate outstanding items to ensure balances remain accurate.
• Communicate with vendors regarding payment status, invoice questions, and issue resolution in a thorough manner.
• Assist with periodic closing activities by tracking payable obligations and supporting reporting needs.

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience in accounts payable processing within a finance or accounting environment with strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to code invoices and allocate expenses accurately to the appropriate accounts.
• Working knowledge of ACH payments and check run procedures.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage transactional accuracy in a deadline-driven setting.
• Proficiency in reviewing financial documents and identifying discrepancies or missing information.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to organize workload, prioritize tasks, and maintain consistent follow-through on payment activities.

Compensation

$19.00-$22.00 Hourly
