Project Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Establish project records at kickoff by validating contract values, bond information, and related setup details, and participate in preconstruction coordination meetings.
• Coordinate with owners to understand invoicing expectations and communicate required billing support to prime contractors and subcontractors.
• Evaluate change order documentation for financial accuracy and update billing records and job cost projections accordingly.
• Prepare owner invoices using project completion information from field and project leadership, and assemble all required supporting documentation.
• Oversee subcontractor payment compliance by tracking releases, certified payroll, and insurance records, and issue payments or joint checks promptly after funding is received.
• Process accounts payable by matching receiving documents to vendor invoices, confirming coding and purchase order alignment, and supporting recurring payment runs.
• Maintain certified payroll submissions and labor compliance reporting for public works projects in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Record incoming payments, prepare bank deposits, and complete bank account reconciliations to ensure accurate cash reporting.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based environments.• Strong background in month-end close activities, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry preparation.
• Experience performing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
• Knowledge of AIA billing processes and preparation of owner invoicing packages.
• Familiarity with public works accounting requirements, including certified payroll and labor compliance reporting.
• Ability to review financial documentation carefully and manage multiple deadlines across active projects.
• Proficiency in accounts payable processing and job cost-related accounting workflows.
Compensation
