Overview
Responsible for Inspection of machined component parts and completed assemblies, upon receipt, in-process and final, for defects and dimensional conformance to drawings and specifications; Perform accurate mechanical, physical and visual inspection of raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies as per Inspection Plans and Specification Requirements.
Responsibilities
· Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of machined components and assemblies.
· Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using standard measuring tools and equipment.
· Verify product conformance to drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
· Record inspection results and maintain quality records accurately.
· Review certifications and supporting documentation for completeness.
· Identify and report nonconforming material to supervision or Quality Engineering.
· Ensure parts are properly identified and traceable throughout the inspection process.
· Follow established inspection procedures, sampling plans, and quality requirements.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
· Support continuous improvement activities and departmental objectives.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1 to three years’ experience in mechanical inspection, one year in Quality Department; calibration experience and familiarity with ISO 10012 or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates degree preferred.
· Visual Acuity: Can meet and maintain inspection certification through regular vision exams.
· Problem Solving: Across Work Centers, actively solves problems that have some complexity and are generally defined. Solutions may require moderate analysis utilizing trained skills and tools.
· Decision Making: Receives minimal direction for determining the prioritization of projects/deliverables and for developing the best approach for achieving objectives. Establishes meaningful priorities, makes sound decisions and initiates actions within policy with minimal supervision. Escalates issues timely and as appropriate.
· Communication: Proactively communicates with co-workers within Work Center, across shifts, and with support staff from other departments. Consistently shares information in a positive, respectful, and constructive manner. Expresses ideas clearly and effectively. Actively listens to others
· General Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of company and department policies, procedures, and goals. Strong systems and procedure application. Regularly and effectively applies skills in accomplishing tasks.
· Teamwork: Actively promotes teamwork across Work Centers and across shifts. Sets an example, mentors peers, and leads efforts for improving teamwork. May be involved in limited training/mentoring of new employees.
· Initiative: Highly motivated and initiates actions with minimal supervision.
· Safety: Can maintain a safe work environment. Good housekeeping and 5-S habits, actively participates in Safety of self and fellow workers.
