Director of Loan Accounting
We are looking for an experienced Director of Loan Accounting to lead loan servicing, cash operations, and reporting activities for a complex lending portfolio in Twin Cities Minnesota. This role will guide accounting and servicing standards across the full loan lifecycle while partnering with finance, operations, and technology teams to strengthen controls, improve workflows, and support portfolio performance. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in commercial loan administration, payment processing, and banking operations, along with the leadership skills to develop a high-performing team.
Responsibilities:
• Lead end-to-end loan cash management activities, including receivables, payables, and borrower disbursements, while maintaining compliance with approved budgets and internal controls.
• Create and enforce consistent standards for applying incoming funds from sources such as commodity sales, hedging activity, insurance recoveries, and public program payments.
• Oversee bank account reconciliations and direct the month-end close process, including final review of financial, performance, and investor-facing reports before release.
• Ensure internal stakeholders and external partners receive complete and accurate reporting on schedule, and monitor team execution against established deadlines.
• Maintain reliable loan data across servicing and accounting platforms by strengthening controls, validating accuracy, and supporting a dependable source of record.
• Supervise the transfer or assignment of closed loan assets to investors and financing partners, ensuring documentation, timing, and execution meet contractual obligations.
• Provide senior guidance on servicing issues, asset management events, and portfolio exceptions to help keep loans performing and in good standing.
• Oversee customer-facing servicing support to ensure timely issue resolution and a high standard of service throughout the life of each loan.
• Partner with technology and operations teams to assess, implement, and enhance loan systems and workflow tools that improve efficiency and data quality.
• Lead process improvement and special finance initiatives by analyzing operational performance, removing bottlenecks, and recommending practical changes to policies, procedures, and technology.
Qualifications:
• 7+ years of experience in loan operations, loan servicing, commercial lending, agricultural lending, or a related financial services environment.• 2+ years of experience leading, supervising, or mentoring teams within loan administration, accounting, or servicing functions.
• Strong understanding of loan documentation, loan accounting practices, transaction processing, and banking procedures.
• Demonstrated experience with commercial loan structures, loan agreements, payment posting, and cash application activities.
• Familiarity with asset accounting, bank reconciliations, month-end close, and investor or portfolio reporting responsibilities.
• Proficiency with loan management or servicing systems, with the ability to support process evaluation and system enhancement efforts.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and accountability.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across finance, operations, servicing, and technology teams.
Compensation
