Robert Half is currently seeking a highly-skilled Senior Cost Accountant to join a dynamic team to support the financial oversight of construction projects. This position plays a key role in tracking project costs, maintaining accurate financial records, and helping project teams stay aligned with budget expectations. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting judgment, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to improve cost efficiency across multiple active jobs.


Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain financial records for construction jobs, ensuring each project is set up accurately from the start.

• Monitor project spending against approved budgets and identify cost trends, variances, and opportunities for better financial control.

• Review supplier agreements and related cost documentation to confirm proper accounting treatment and budget alignment.

• Track material usage and inventory activity to support accurate cost allocation across projects.

• Validate vendor invoices against contracts, purchase records, and project charges before processing.

• Prepare month-end cost reports, reconciliations, and supporting analysis to ensure timely and accurate close activities.

• Partner with project managers and operations teams to provide financial insight on project performance and cost management.

• Maintain reliable accounting data and documentation that supports internal reporting and informed business decisions.


Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within construction or contractor environments.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, construction accounting principles, and project-based financial reporting.
• Experience supporting month-end close and preparing account reconciliations and cost analysis.
• Ability to manage project budgets, track cost performance, and investigate variances with accuracy.
• Familiarity with supplier contracts, invoice verification, and inventory-related accounting processes.
• High level of attention to detail with consistent financial accuracy and strong organizational skills.
• Sound business judgment with the ability to identify ways to reduce costs and improve financial efficiency.

Compensation

$80,000.00-$100,000.00 Yearly
