Administrative Assistant - City Manager's Office

Cerritos, CA 90620, US Temporary
Compensation: $28 to $35 Hourly

Client is seeking a highly organized, professional, and customer service-oriented Administrative Assistant to support the City Manager's Office. This part-time position plays a key role in providing administrative, clerical, and customer support services while assisting with special projects, public inquiries, records management, and day-to-day office operations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional municipal environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the City Manager's Office.
  • Answer and direct incoming telephone calls, emails, and public inquiries.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, agendas, presentations, and other documents.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems.
  • Coordinate meetings, appointments, and calendar management.
  • Assist with public records requests and records retention procedures.
  • Prepare meeting materials and distribute information to staff and stakeholders.
  • Monitor department email inboxes and respond to inquiries as appropriate.
  • Enter and update data in various databases, spreadsheets, and tracking systems.
  • Assist with special projects, community programs, and city initiatives.
  • Process purchase requests, invoices, and other administrative paperwork.
  • Support communication efforts with residents, businesses, community groups, and outside agencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive personnel, legal, and city matters.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of administrative, clerical, executive support, or municipal office experience.
  • Previous public sector, city, government, or nonprofit experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Experience handling confidential information with discretion.



Compensation

$28.00-$35.00 Hourly
