Inventory Change Manager

Remote with Travel

Our client is seeking an experienced Inventory Change Management Consultant to support a large-scale inventory and operations transformation initiative following a recent acquisition. This engagement is ideal for a hands-on professional who has successfully led inventory process improvements in manufacturing or inventory-intensive environments and understands how to drive organizational adoption of new controls, workflows, and operating practices.

This role goes beyond project coordination. The successful consultant will bring practical experience implementing inventory best practices, strengthening controls, and helping organizations transition from informal processes to a more scalable, disciplined operating model.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with leadership and external advisors to support a company-wide inventory transformation initiative.
• Assess current inventory processes, identify control gaps, and recommend operational improvements.
• Help design and implement inventory management procedures aligned with manufacturing and operational best practices.
• Lead change management efforts to drive adoption of new processes, controls, and accountability measures across the organization.
• Collaborate with operations, warehouse, manufacturing, supply chain, and finance teams to improve inventory visibility and accuracy.
• Support the development and execution of cycle count programs, physical inventory procedures, and inventory movement controls.
• Facilitate communication and training efforts that help employees understand the purpose, benefits, and expectations of process changes.
• Build stakeholder alignment and organizational buy-in among both frontline employees and leadership teams.
• Assist in creating a more structured and scalable inventory management framework that supports future organizational growth.
• Monitor implementation progress and help address operational challenges that arise during the transition.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience leading inventory transformation, operational excellence, or change management initiatives within manufacturing or distribution environments.
• Strong understanding of inventory controls, warehouse operations, cycle counting methodologies, physical inventory procedures, and inventory accuracy metrics.
• Experience building processes, controls, and reporting frameworks in organizations with limited operational structure or immature inventory practices.
• Background in manufacturing operations, supply chain, inventory accounting, internal audit, operational finance, or process improvement.
• Demonstrated success influencing stakeholders and driving adoption of change across multiple business functions.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to balance strategic process improvement with hands-on execution.
• Willingness to travel and work onsite during key phases of the engagement.

Preferred Experience

• Internal audit experience within a manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-intensive organization.
• Experience evaluating inventory control environments and implementing corrective actions.
• Project management background combined with significant change management responsibility in an inventory-focused business.
• Experience supporting post-acquisition integration, operational transformation, or process standardization initiatives.
