Contract Staff Accountant

Job Summary

Our client is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join the accounting team on a contract basis. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close support. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger accounts
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
• Maintain and update the general ledger
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting as needed
• Prepare account analyses and investigate discrepancies
• Assist with accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed asset tracking
• Help ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures
• Support audit requests and provide documentation as needed
• Participate in process improvement and special accounting projects

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with account reconciliations and journal entries
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft D365, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems preferred
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting month-end close
• Familiarity with AP, AR, and payroll processes
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to adapt quickly in a contract environment
