Lifting objects up to 50lbs., sitting for long periods of time. Assisting passengers entering and exiting vehicles.
Shift
Monday – Friday 7.5 hour shift between operational hours of 7:00 am-7:00 pm .This is a Flex position- Works only during academic calendar school year- mid August thru mid December and mid January thru early May. (Fall semester and Spring semester only)
Job Summary
The University of Kentucky is seeking a Flex Shuttle Driver to provide safe, courteous, and reliable transportation for students across campus. The Flex Shuttle Driver operates a handicap-accessible university vehicle and provides door-to-door, on-campus transportation for students with temporary and permanent mobility impairments, ensuring they can safely access classes and other campus activities.
This position plays a vital role in promoting accessibility, enhancing campus mobility, and delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
What You Will Do
  • Safely operate handicap-accessible university shuttle vehicles in all weather and road conditions while complying with traffic laws, university policies, and Transportation Services procedures.
  • Provide door-to-door transportation for students with temporary and permanent mobility impairments, assisting them in traveling to classes and other on-campus activities. This service is offered from 7 AM to 7 PM Monday-Friday.
  • Assist passengers with boarding, securing mobility devices, exiting vehicles, and other accessibility needs while ensuring a safe and respectful experience.
  • Deliver friendly, professional customer service by assisting passengers and providing accurate route and schedule information.
  • Maintain on-time transportation service and support Transportation Services by providing driver relief and assisting with other transit operations as operational needs require.
  • Follow established radio and communication protocols to report traffic delays, emergencies, vehicle accidents, equipment issues, and other operational concerns.
  • Respond appropriately to passenger emergencies, including administering first aid when necessary and notifying appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain accurate ridership, mileage, fuel, and other required operational records.
  • Perform daily vehicle safety inspections and promptly report maintenance concerns to help ensure safe and reliable fleet operations.
  • Foster a positive campus experience by interacting respectfully and professionally with students and university community.
