Job Summary
The child life specialist provides for the psychosocial needs of patients and families receiving medical care within Golisano Children’s at UK and UK Healthcare. Through developmentally appropriate interventions, this position ensures children and families positively cope to master hospitalization and illness.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Understanding of human / child growth and development, family process, and play theory related to child life practice; Understanding of effective communication skills; Knowledge and skill in group work with children; Knowledge of stress and coping theory

Preferred Education/Experience
Minimum related experience: Completion of 600-hour child life internship/ experience working with children in health care setting Preferred Education/ Experience: Master’s Degree preferred in child life, child development or related field of study; 1 to 2 years of experience with children in a health care setting
