Sr. Accountant

Compensation: $85 to $100 Yearly

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations and help ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in St Petersburg, Florida. This role will contribute to the monthly close process, maintain key schedules and reconciliations, and assist with audit readiness across multiple areas of the general ledger. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, sound judgment, and the ability to guide entry-level team members while promoting consistent processes and controls.


Responsibilities:

• Drive month-end accounting activities by preparing financial reports, reviewing results, and investigating fluctuations against expectations.

• Record accounting activity through accurate journal entries and keep multiple general ledger accounts fully reconciled and up to date.

• Monitor cash movement projections and maintain supporting schedules for fixed assets, including depreciation calculations and reporting.

• Manage debt-related tracking by updating balances, interest activity, and amortization schedules with precision.

• Support external and internal audit preparation by organizing schedules, compiling documentation, and maintaining complete work papers.

• Evaluate financial transactions to confirm appropriate accounting treatment and alignment with company policies and standards.

• Provide day-to-day guidance to less experienced accounting team members to strengthen accuracy, consistency, and productivity.

• Enhance the control environment by documenting procedures and improving internal controls and standard operating practices.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience managing month-end close activities in a corporate environment.

• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliation.

• Experience performing bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.

• Ability to prepare and maintain supporting schedules for fixed assets, debt activity, and related balances.

• Familiarity with financial analysis concepts, including reviewing variances and identifying unusual account activity.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize work, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy across multiple priorities.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across accounting and finance functions.
