Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Review and reconcile monthly bank activity to maintain accurate cash records across assigned properties.
• Analyze and balance general ledger and balance sheet accounts each month, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Prepare monthly financial statements for a designated group of properties with a strong focus on accuracy and completeness.
• Compile and distribute recurring monthly and quarterly financial reports in alignment with established reporting deadlines.
• Process documentation and requests related to the release and use of reserve funds when needed.
• Monitor and coordinate timely mortgage, escrow, and reserve-related payments for each property in the portfolio.
• Assist in developing annual operating budgets by gathering data, organizing financial details, and supporting forecast preparation.
• Assemble audit schedules, supporting work papers, and related reports for annual financial reviews.
• Provide additional accounting support and complete other assigned tasks as directed by accounting leadership.
Qualifications:
• At least 1 year of accounting experience, preferably in a staff accountant or similar role.• Working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, and adjusting entries.
• Experience performing bank reconciliations and monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Ability to prepare and review monthly financial reporting with strong attention to detail.
• Familiarity with fixed asset accounting and standard accounting systems.
• Understanding of corporate tax, sales tax, or related tax processes is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.
Compensation
