Payroll Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Process part-time payroll activities accurately and on schedule to ensure employees are paid correctly and without delay.
• Maintain and update payroll records, including compensation details, tax withholdings, deductions, and direct deposit information.
• Review timesheets, pay calculations, and employee data to identify discrepancies and resolve issues before payroll is finalized.
• Reconcile payroll-related accounts and assist with month-end and year-end accounting close tasks.
• Support payroll tax reporting, garnishment processing, benefits deductions, and other payroll transactions as needed.
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc payroll reports to support accounting, management, and internal reporting requirements.
• Address employee payroll inquiries with professionalism, accuracy, and appropriate confidentiality.
• Organize payroll documentation and provide records needed for internal reviews, audits, and compliance activities.
• Work closely with HR and accounting teams to ensure employee changes and payroll updates are reflected correctly.
• Help uphold payroll controls and follow company policies as well as applicable wage and tax regulations.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle payroll processing with a high degree of accuracy.• Working knowledge of multi-state payroll practices, payroll tax requirements, and related reporting obligations.
• Background in accounting principles, account reconciliations, and financial record maintenance.
• Experience using Paylocity or a comparable payroll platform in a workplace setting.
• Ability to handle sensitive employee and compensation information with discretion and care.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to review data, identify errors, and meet recurring deadlines.
• Effective communication skills for responding to employee questions and collaborating across departments.
