Landlord Tenant Attorney

We are looking for an experienced Landlord Tenant Attorney to support a busy legal practice in La Jolla, California. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for a licensed attorney with a strong background in landlord-tenant matters, litigation strategy, and courtroom advocacy. The role offers the opportunity to manage complex disputes, prepare persuasive legal filings, and guide cases through discovery and motion practice.

Responsibilities:
• Represent clients in landlord-tenant disputes involving lease issues, possession matters, habitability claims, and related litigation.
• Prepare, review, and file motions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents with accuracy and strategic attention to detail.
• Manage all phases of discovery, including drafting requests, reviewing responses, and coordinating document production.
• Conduct legal research and develop case strategies that support favorable outcomes in contested matters.
• Appear in court hearings, settlement conferences, and other proceedings to advocate effectively on behalf of clients.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel to keep matters moving efficiently and professionally.
• Assess case risks, identify legal issues early, and provide practical recommendations throughout the life of each matter.

Qualifications:

• Licensed attorney in good standing with the appropriate state bar.
• At least 7 years of legal experience with a significant focus on landlord-tenant law and litigation.
• Demonstrated ability to draft motions, briefs, and other litigation documents independently.
• Strong working knowledge of discovery procedures, case management, and courtroom processes.
• Proven experience handling landlord-tenant disputes from initial evaluation through resolution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present arguments clearly and persuasively.
• Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.

Compensation

$65.00-$75.00 Hourly
