Sr. Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a Long-term Contract position based in Andover, Massachusetts. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, driving a dependable month-end close, and resolving account discrepancies through detailed analysis. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, partnering across multiple departments, and managing a wide range of balance sheet and operational accounting activities.
Responsibilities:
• Manage assigned general ledger accounts and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and completely.
• Lead account reconciliation efforts, including researching aged items and resolving outstanding discrepancies.
• Execute critical month-end close tasks with minimal supervision, including preparing and posting journal entries.
• Oversee accounting activities related to prepaids, inventory, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Work closely with accounts payable, accounts receivable, finance, and operations to align financial data and support business needs.
• Maintain customer master records and related data to help preserve reporting accuracy and operational consistency.
• Prepare bank and balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances in a timely manner.
• Support physical inventory and asset-related accounting processes, including record maintenance and follow-up analysis.
• Contribute to additional accounting assignments and financial support activities as needed.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience handling month-end close activities in a senior-level accounting role.• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, and debit and credit principles.
• Hands-on experience with account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Familiarity with accounting for prepaids, fixed assets, inventory, and related supporting schedules.
• Ability to analyze income statement and balance sheet activity with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues thoroughly and identify practical resolutions.
