Payroll Specialist

We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join a hybrid team in San Francisco, California. This Long-term Contract position will focus on strengthening payroll accuracy, supporting compliance efforts, and improving reporting and process efficiency across ongoing priorities. The ideal candidate brings hands-on payroll expertise, strong knowledge of California and San Francisco regulations, and the ability to contribute effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple active initiatives.

Responsibilities:
• Manage day-to-day payroll activities with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare, review, and interpret payroll and HR-related reports to support operational decisions and audit readiness.
• Partner with payroll team members and leadership to advance process improvements, data cleanup efforts, and workflow optimization projects.
• Support compliance across applicable federal, California, and local San Francisco payroll requirements.
• Contribute to multiple concurrent priorities while coordinating closely with internal payroll and finance stakeholders.
• Help identify reporting gaps, resolve payroll discrepancies, and improve documentation for recurring processes.
• Work within payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now or similar platforms with minimal ramp-up time.
• Participate in hybrid operations, maintaining effective collaboration with onsite and remote team members.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of hands-on payroll experience in a high-volume environment.

• Strong understanding of federal, California, and San Francisco payroll laws and compliance standards.

• Experience processing full-cycle payroll, including work involving large employee populations.

• Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now, or a closely related payroll platform.

• Ability to produce and analyze payroll reports with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Comfortable working in a hybrid setting with three days onsite each week.

• Resourceful, proactive, and capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously.

• Experience with AI-supported prompting or reporting tools is a plus.

Compensation

$38.00-$45.00 Hourly
