OVERVIEW:
As Vice President of Financial Strategy and Performance, you will lead Fastenal's enterprise financial planning and analysis capabilities while overseeing pricing, gross margin optimization and strategic decision support. This role partners closely with executive leadership to translate financial and business performance into clear insights, actionable recommendations and scalable processes that support profitable growth, capital allocation and enterprise value creation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
o Establishing and leading the enterprise FP&A strategy, including forecasting, budgeting, long-range planning, business scenario modeling and performance reporting
o Partnering with executive leadership and business leaders to develop financial insights, recommendations and decision-support tools that support company growth and profitability
o Leading the preparation of executive reporting packages, leadership presentations and financial analysis used to evaluate business performance, strategic initiatives and capital allocation decisions
o Providing financial modeling, diligence support and post-transaction analysis for M&A opportunities and other strategic investments
o Leading investor relations activities through financial analysis, messaging, earnings preparation and clear communication of business performance and outlook
o Leading pricing and gross margin optimization teams, including reporting, analysis, governance and recommendations designed to improve margin performance while supporting customer value and market competitiveness
o Setting performance expectations and enterprise KPIs for FP&A, pricing and gross margin reporting; monitoring results and driving accountability across the organization
o Sponsoring process improvement, automation, data governance and financial systems initiatives that improve the speed, accuracy and scalability of planning and reporting processes
o Building, developing and leading high-performing FP&A, pricing and margin analytics teams; fostering professional growth, cross-functional collaboration and succession planning
o Developing, training, and motivating others in achieving team and individual goals
o Maintaining strong internal controls, analytical discipline and consistent reporting standards across enterprise planning, forecasting and financial reporting activities
o Performing special projects, analysis and other administrative tasks as necessary
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:
o Possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or equivalent work experience
o Possess at least 10 years of progressive Accounting, Finance, FP&A or related leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to set strategy, influence business decisions and improve financial processes
o Demonstrated experience leading forecasting, budgeting, financial modeling, business performance reporting and executive-level financial analysis
o Strong understanding of pricing, gross margin analysis, business profitability drivers and operational decision support
o Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to translate complex financial analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for executive and business audiences
o Excellent interpersonal skills and team player approach, including the ability to influence and coordinate across teams, departments and senior leadership
o Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset and ability to improve processes, reporting, systems and analytical capabilities
o Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to motivate others
o Demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, planning and prioritizing abilities
o Possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
o Exhibit strong problem-solving, deductive reasoning, judgment and decision-making skills
o Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Guam)
PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
o Experience supporting investor relations, earnings preparation, board or executive reporting, M&A analysis or capital allocation decisions
o Experience leading pricing strategy, gross margin optimization, commercial analytics or profitability reporting teams
o Experience with enterprise planning, reporting, ERP, business intelligence or analytics systems
o Willingness to travel

COMPENSATION:
The base pay range for this position is $175,000 - 230,000. In addition to base pay, this position is also eligible for a bonus and/or commission.
