Operations Manager
Jack & Sage

About Jack & Sage
Jack & Sage is a fast-growing, profitable wholesale branded-apparel company serving destination resorts across North America. We design, source, decorate, and ship apparel and accessories — sitting between a brand and a blanks/logowear supplier. We're on track for ~$10M in revenue this year (up ~50% year over year) and building toward ~$13M next year. We're building the operating backbone to support that growth.
We run lean and hire deliberately. This is a build role for someone who wants real ownership and a broad mandate — not a seat in a big machine.
The Role
We're hiring our first dedicated Operations Manager to own everything that happens inside our four walls — the warehouse, the sew/decoration floor, and a brand-new belt sewing line we're standing up — and to build the systems and space that let us scale cleanly.
This is a rare role in that it spans day-to-day operations leadership and two significant build projects: standing up a new production line from scratch, and leading our upcoming warehouse move to a new facility. You'll go from running the floor to designing what the floor becomes.
If you're a leader who runs toward complexity, builds order out of ambiguity, and wants a mandate broad enough to grow into, this is that role.
What You'll Own
People & floor leadership
- Manage, hire, train, develop, and — when needed — discipline the warehouse and sew/decoration team
- Set the daily labor plan and schedule against the production and shipping calendar
- Own floor culture, performance, and accountability
- Own safety, OSHA, and workers' comp compliance
- Design the process flow and physical layout for a new belt production line
- Determine, spec, and source the equipment needed
- Hire and train the line team
- Get the line to production quality and target throughput
- Receiving, putaway, and inventory accuracy (including cycle counts)
- Outbound fulfillment — pick, pack, ship — and on-time-ship performance
- Production planning, floor capacity, and bottleneck management
- QA and receiving records in our ERP (ApparelMagic)
- Sew and decoration output quality — driving down remakes and closing quality gaps
- Own the relationship, performance, and quality of a key contract manufacturing partner
- Design the layout, racking, and slotting for our new facility
- Plan and execute the physical move with minimal disruption
- Specify the technology and tooling for the new space
- Build standard work and SOPs where none exist today
- Lead lean / 5S / process-improvement initiatives
- Improve technology and tooling across the operation
- Define and track operational KPIs; own warehouse/floor operating costs (cost per unit shipped, overtime, supplies)
- Serve as the single operations point of contact for sales/CS on date and capacity commitments
- Proven experience leading and developing a team of people, with direct accountability for their performance
- A track record of building order, process, or systems where none existed — you can point to something you personally set up and made work
- Hands-on, floor-present leadership style; comfortable in a growing, sometimes-messy environment
- Strong systems and data instinct — you find the missing detail, you don't just report the summary
- Bias to action and ownership; you run toward problems
- Experience in apparel, sewn goods, decoration, soft goods, or light manufacturing
- Experience standing up a production line, or leading a facility move, warehouse redesign, or equipment installation
- Lean / 5S / continuous-improvement or process-engineering background
- Familiarity with an ERP or inventory system
- A rare, broad mandate. You own the entire inside-the-walls operation, stand up a new line, and lead a facility move — all in your first year.
- Real ownership. You report directly to the COO and build most of your own systems.
- Visible impact. Your work shows up directly in our margins, our on-time delivery, and our ability to grow.
- Growth. As Jack & Sage scales past $13M, this role and team grow with it. We're hiring someone who can grow with the company, not just fill a seat.

What We're Looking For
We care more about leadership, ownership, and problem-solving horsepower than a specific résumé. Two paths fit this role well:
Experienced operations leaders — you've run a warehouse, DC, or production floor and built process, and you want a broader mandate.
Transitioning military officers — you've led teams and complex operations under pressure, and you want to translate that into building and running a civilian operation. We will invest in teaching you the functional side; you bring the leadership and the standards. Required officer level.
Required
- Officer experience in the military
- Proven experience leading and developing a team of people, with direct accountability for their performance
- A track record of building order, process, or systems where none existed — you can point to something you personally set up and made work
- Hands-on, floor-present leadership style; comfortable in a growing, sometimes-messy environment
- Strong systems and data instinct — you find the missing detail, you don't just report the summary
- Bias to action and ownership; you run toward problems
Why This Role Is Worth It
- A rare, broad mandate.
