Product Marketing Manager - Retention Strategy and Project Delivery
Group O is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Product Marketing Manager that's strategic in shaping Retention Strategy and Project Delivery for genre-specific subscription plan subscribers.
This role will be responsible for developing & delivering technical strategies to reduce churn. They will need to identify and launch new churn reduction testing strategies for a subscription-based service. Requires the ability to build and communicate effectively strategies that require development by IT and Engineering including offer framework development and other churn prevention capabilities.
This role will work cross functionally with key stakeholders (governance, CRM, Engagement Marketing, Revenue Marketing) to develop modern marketing strategies that drive product engagement, retention and revenue opportunities. They will lead various initiatives with a focus on automation and personalization to optimize across multiple KPIs.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate:
- Works proactively and relatively independently to develop an initiative roadmap
- Develops lifecycle strategies across engagement, upsell/cross-sell, retention, and churn mitigation for Genre subscription plan subscribers
- Acts as the Marketing lead for Genre Plan strategies, representing the team’s best interests and exhibit best practices while operating in cross-functional work streams
- Develops a close feedback loop to team/marketing leadership for program updates and to overcome obstacles as needed
- Has a focus on effective customer communication, automation-first mindset, and solution-oriented thinking
- Can manage multiple priorities to oversee and collaborate on various campaign initiatives at the same time
- Launches strategies with measurement plans in mind to enable performance tracking against KPIs (product engagement, revenue, and subscriber retention)
- Uses customer insights, behavioral data, segmentation, and campaign performance trends to identify new communication opportunities and optimize existing journeys
This role requires close partnership with analysts and stakeholders to develop testing strategies and demonstrate incremental value (i.e. churn mitigation, product engagement, campaign conversion. They will have ownership over campaign performance and support business cases (cost / benefit analysis) to drive value for the subscriber base and the enterprise.
Job Qualifications
Required Experience:
- Experience developing and communicating capability and testing strategy to technical delivery teams (develop strategy and capability expectations used to write technical requirements)
- Experience with retention or churn mitigation strategy and testing with an app-based streaming or SVOD subscription service preferred, but experience with churn prevention at any subscription service will be considered
- Autonomously leading enterprise strategic initiatives (examples of discovery work, strategy/roadmap development, and strategic implementation)
- Proactive and independent leadership of strategic portfolio (experience in identifying opportunities, developing and executing strategic roadmap)
- Proven record of accountability to deliver initiatives in alignment with program roadmap
- 2+ years communications or campaign strategy experience for large to midsized enterprise with emphasis on automation, personalization, and efficiency (Subscription Service / SVOD experience preferred)
- Candidate can understand the technical aspects of how to optimize churn and create strategy to develop roadmap capabilities that can implement results to decrease churn.
- Candidate can work collaboratively with cross functional teams
- Have to be able to speak with technical teams
- Smartsheet's and Asana to track projects experience a plus
Required Skills
- Must be able to effectively work and collaborate cross functionally with key stakeholders & leaders from across the enterprise to define and implement opportunities (Governance, CRM, Engagement Marketing, Revenue Marketing)
- Must be able to effectively communicate program updates, performance, strategy and roadmap with senior marketing leadership (AVP/VP)
- Executive decision making – Autonomously make decisions regarding data / insights required, testing roadmap, strategic implementation that drive greatest enterprise value
- Understand when to use escalation as a tool to gain additional marketing leadership guidance or for help overcoming roadblocks
- Sufficient understanding of building business cases, and strong ability to develop and implement strategic testing plans
