Portfolio Accounting Team
The Portfolio Accountant is a member of the Portfolio Accounting team, which completes a global review of company results, including property net operating income with an extensive understanding and analysis on bad debt and net recoveries. The role analyzes operational and financial results and assists in preparation of reports presented directly to Executive Management. This role provides a unique opportunity for an individual to apply strong analytical skills and strategic thinking to help evaluate the Company’s results. In addition, the Portfolio Accounting team focuses on driving process improvements and efficiencies across the organization while supporting ad hoc projects and quarterly forecasting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze and understand drivers behind the company’s operational results.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly results packages distributed to Senior Management and operational teams.
- Prepare journal entries related to transactions within assigned areas of responsibility to support an accurate month-end close process.
- Assist in the preparation of detailed schedules and reconciliations that support balances included in the Company’s internal and external financial statements.
- Responsible for the monthly review and analysis over rental revenue and straight-line rental income.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly NOI forecasts and annual budgets.
- Review and maintain consultant valuation information and real estate tax assessment data for accuracy and completeness, coordinate with tax consultants to resolve discrepancies, and prepare analytical reports and supporting schedules to support management review and tax appeal strategies.
- Review acquisition valuation reports to support the Company’s purchase accounting.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly bad debt reports to ensure AR is reserved as needed.
- Undertake other ad hoc tasks or special projects as assigned by the Manager or Director.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance;
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with formulas and PivotTables used in compiling and comparing data;
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and processes, with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail;
- Ability to face challenges with a proactive mindset and a solutions-oriented approach;
- Strong organizational skills, with a proven ability to work well independently and within a team environment; and
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with both internal and external stakeholders.
