Responsibilities
The Benefits Specialist I is the face of benefits to our employees, i.e., our customers. So, it’s imperative that they be polished, professional, and have the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the business. They will provide customer service support in addressing and resolving employee benefit related issues in a proactive, timely manner. They will participate in the implementation and day-to-day administration of the Company’s primary benefit programs, policies and practices including completion of transactional activities associated with employee enrollment or changes to plan participation, employee records management and preparing daily, weekly and monthly reporting / auditing associated with various benefits plans.
Working with the direct supervision of the VP, Global Benefits Services, the Benefits Specialist will:
- Provide a superior level of responsiveness and service through the timely completion of employee enrollment and change requests.
- Monitor and respond to employee inquiries through email, telephone and virtual meetings.
- Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of all company-sponsored benefit programs, which enables the sound and accurate responsiveness to employee inquiries.
- Produce and maintain standard reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of domestic compliance requirements in such related area as ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Worker’s Compensation, and FLSA, etc.
- Provide administrative support in the preparation and filing of annual reporting, support plan audits, and manage required annual notification mailings, etc.
- Work collaboratively with vendors to leverage their strengths in addressing issues with enrollment, participation or benefits coverage when they arise.
- Become knowledgeable of InComm's payroll systems and processes, and serve as a key point of contact when necessary to the Payroll team.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business or related field required.
- 1-2 years of experience working within an HR/Benefits department for a large corporation preferred.
- Prior experience with Workday or a similar HCMS system required.
- Strong analytical skills and critical thinking.
- Strong proficiency in using software applications including Outlook, Word and Excel, to include V-lookups, Pivot Tables, Filters, etc.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Exemplary oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and continually enhance understanding of benefit plan components and how they impact participants.
- Knowledge of commonly referenced compliance and regulatory requirements including ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Worker’s Compensation, and FLSA, etc. a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or with limited oversight, completing assignments by the designated deadlines.
- Experience developing and maintaining organized work habits that ensure the effective management of workflow and deliverable requirements.
- Knowledge of international benefits a plus.
