Human Resources (HR) Director
We are looking for an experienced Human Resources (HR) Director to support a university environment in Chicago, Illinois. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for a strong HR professional who can manage both complex employee matters and day-to-day HR support, while working effectively in a manual environment. The person in this role must be comfortable stepping into a wide variety of HR situations, providing practical support, building trust quickly, and helping the organization navigate change.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as an HR Business Partner for an assigned client group, providing support across a broad range of HR areas.
- Manage employee relations matters, including complex cases, investigations, documentation, and partnership with legal.
- Lead the ADA reasonable accommodation process from start to finish, including the interactive process and related documentation.
- Advise leaders on performance management, coaching, and performance improvement plans.
- Support workforce planning, reorganizations, and other organizational changes.
- Assist with change management efforts related to implementations.
- Handle both strategic HRBP work and day-to-day HR issues in a non-siloed environment.
- Perform administrative HR work in a highly manual environment with non-integrated systems.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation across HR activities.
- Provide recruiting or offer support as needed.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
- May provide guidance to HR Managers, depending on business need.
Qualifications:
- Strong HRBP experience with the ability to support all levels of the organization.
- Strong employee relations experience, including complex ER matters.
- Strong ADA and reasonable accommodations experience, including full ownership of the interactive process.
- Experience with performance management, PIPs, workforce planning, and reorganizations.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on, non-siloed HR environment.
- Tech-savvy and able to work effectively across manual processes and disconnected systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Education industry experience is highly preferred!
