Voice Network Engineer
Responsibilities:
• Oversee day-to-day performance and support of Cisco network infrastructure, including switching, routing, VLAN configuration, spanning tree operations, and access layer connectivity.
• Administer enterprise voice platforms by maintaining Cisco Unified Communications environments, call routing components, and related telephony services across multiple locations.
• Support cloud-based collaboration solutions such as Webex and Microsoft Teams, including account setup, dial plan updates, and coordination with connected on-premises systems.
• Maintain emergency calling configurations and help ensure telephony services meet applicable E911 requirements across the organization.
• Develop, document, and carry out disaster recovery and failover testing for network and voice platforms, capturing outcomes and validating recovery readiness.
• Apply and tune QoS policies to protect voice traffic quality and sustain reliable performance across converged network environments.
• Investigate and resolve call quality issues, service interruptions, and voice-related incidents using a structured and timely troubleshooting approach.
• Lead or contribute to change management activities by preparing technical documentation, securing approvals, implementing updates, and completing post-change reviews.
• Partner with security, compliance, vendors, and internal technology teams to align voice and network operations with regulatory standards and internal controls.
• Keep network diagrams, dial plans, configuration records, and operational procedures accurate and current for ongoing support and future planning.
Qualifications:
• At least 5 years of practical network engineering experience with strong depth in Cisco routing and switching technologies.• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise voice, unified communications, or collaboration environments.
• Proven expertise administering Cisco Unified Communications Manager, including dial plans, device pools, calling search spaces, and platform upgrades.
• Strong experience with SIP and voice trunking design, carrier connectivity, codec negotiation, and dial peer configuration.
• Familiarity with Webex cloud services and collaboration platforms, with exposure to hybrid or cloud-based deployment models preferred.
• Working knowledge of E911 requirements and enterprise telephony compliance considerations.
• Experience planning and executing disaster recovery or failover testing for voice systems with clear documentation of procedures and results.
• Solid understanding of QoS concepts and hands-on ability to prioritize voice traffic through marking, shaping, and queuing policies.
