Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including reviewing invoices and expense submissions, preparing payments, and resolving vendor-related issues.
• Support sales and use tax compliance by applying tax rules to transactions, preparing accruals when needed, maintaining exemption documentation, and assisting with return preparation.
• Oversee accounts receivable activity by monitoring billing and credit transactions, posting cash receipts, following up on outstanding balances, and creating related reporting.
• Complete recurring monthly netting tasks and record associated accounting activity accurately and on schedule.
• Maintain general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries as needed, and produce financial analyses and routine reports for internal stakeholders.
• Track fixed assets by updating records, generating supporting schedules, and assisting with physical inventory verification.
• Coordinate approved timekeeping data and process payroll uploads with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.
• Deliver scheduled and ad hoc accounting reports, maintain records in accordance with retention requirements, and help train colleagues on accounting procedures and process improvements.
Qualifications:
• Associate degree in accounting or three to five years of relevant accounting experience that includes general ledger responsibilities.• Working knowledge of standard accounting practices and office procedures across AP, AR, and financial recordkeeping.
• Ability to handle high-volume numeric detail with strong accuracy while meeting established deadlines.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills in a collaborative team environment.
• Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and accounting software applications.
• Understanding of legal and tax terminology, including practical experience related to sales and use tax compliance.
• Prior experience supporting payroll processes and training others on accounting procedures is preferred.
Compensation
