Accounts Receivable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join a busy finance team in Fontana, California on a Contract basis. This role is ideal for someone who can keep customer accounts organized, support timely invoicing and collections, and contribute to month-end activities in a high-volume environment. The position works closely with credit, sales, and internal stakeholders to help maintain accurate account status and consistent cash flow.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee a portfolio of customer accounts, monitor outstanding balances, and follow up with commercial clients to encourage timely payment.
• Review account aging details, identify past-due items, and help keep receivables current through consistent collection efforts.
• Support automated billing operations by verifying invoices, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring customers receive accurate billing information.
• Release order or account holds when payment status, documentation, and internal guidelines allow for approval.
• Reconcile customer accounts by researching unapplied items, reviewing account activity, and clarifying open balance questions.
• Prepare credit memos using established procedures, especially during month-end periods with increased claim-related activity.
• Assist with credit-related tasks such as reviewing payment history, checking open balances, and gathering references for new customer setups.
• Provide backup support for rebate claim calculations and other credit analysis activities as needed during peak periods.
• Contribute to month-end close by completing assigned receivables and billing tasks, including occasional overtime support on the last Saturday of the month.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in accounts receivable, including commercial collections and billing support.
• Working knowledge of cash application processes, aging reports, and customer account reconciliation.
• Experience handling high-volume invoicing within an automated billing environment.
• Ability to prepare credit memos, review account activity, and resolve billing or balance discrepancies accurately.
• Familiarity with credit review tasks such as evaluating payment trends, checking open balances, and supporting customer account setup.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across finance, sales, and customer contacts.
• Comfortable in a fully onsite role in Fontana, California, with flexibility to support occasional month-end overtime.
• Experience with large company receivables operations or enterprise AR systems is a plus.

Compensation

$19.79-$25.00 Hourly
