Part Time Accounting Specialist

We are looking for an Part Time Accounting Specialist to support a non-profit organization in Boston, Massachusetts through a Contract position. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is comfortable managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and helping keep accounting operations running smoothly. The role will contribute across payables, receivables, billing, and reconciliations while working with QuickBooks Online in a detail-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

• Process vendor invoices, prepare payments, and maintain accurate accounts payable records to support timely disbursements.

• Monitor incoming payments, apply receipts correctly, and follow up on outstanding balances to keep accounts receivable current.

• Prepare and issue invoices while ensuring billing details are accurate, complete, and aligned with internal documentation.

• Reconcile account activity on a regular basis to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and maintain reliable financial records.

• Assist with routine accounting tasks such as posting transactions, organizing supporting documentation, and updating financial data in QuickBooks Online.

• Review financial entries for accuracy and completeness, helping maintain strong recordkeeping and compliance with established procedures.

• Partner with internal team members to address accounting questions, clarify transaction details, and support smooth daily operations.

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Working knowledge of billing practices and account reconciliation processes.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and confidence navigating accounting systems.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate financial records.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with internal stakeholders.
• Prior accounting support experience within a detail-focused setting; non-profit exposure is a plus.

Compensation

$20.00-$25.00 Hourly
