Accounts Receivable Clerk

We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to support day-to-day receivables activity for an on-site team in California. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who brings strong accounting support experience, communicates well with both customers and internal partners, and can keep payment records organized and accurate. The person in this role will help maintain healthy customer accounts by posting payments, resolving discrepancies, and assisting with credit-related account administration.

Responsibilities:

• Record and apply incoming customer payments accurately across various payment methods while keeping account activity current.

• Reconcile daily receipts and balance cash-related transactions to ensure financial records remain complete and correct.

• Build and maintain Excel tracking tools for payment activity, aging details, and account status reporting.

• Review accounts with payment concerns, research credit hold situations, and support release decisions based on account standing and history.

• Calculate and process finance charges for overdue balances in accordance with established account terms.

• Investigate billing or payment discrepancies and work toward timely resolution to preserve accurate receivable records.

• Respond to customer questions regarding invoices, balances, and payment activity with professionalism and clarity.

• Partner with sales team members to review delinquent accounts, share aging information, and support collection follow-up efforts.

• Set up new customer profiles by gathering required documentation, completing credit-related review steps, and entering approved account information into company records.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience in accounts receivable, billing, collections, or a similar accounting support position.
• Hands-on ability to post payments, reconcile cash activity, and research customer account issues.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to create, update, and manage detailed spreadsheets.
• Working knowledge of varied customer payment terms and the ability to handle multiple account arrangements accurately.
• Strong customer service and collections skills with a detail-focused communication style.
• High attention to detail and solid organizational skills in a fast-paced office environment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with internal departments, including sales, to support account management and collections.
• Experience with credit applications, reference checks, and new customer account setup is preferred.

Compensation

$24.00-$25.00 Hourly
