Accounting Manager

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to support financial operations for our client in Stonington, Connecticut. This long-term contract role is well suited for a detail-oriented professional with strong leadership skills and a proven ability to oversee key accounting functions, enhance reporting accuracy, and ensure financial and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities will include managing month-end close activities, reviewing account reconciliations, and providing insightful financial analysis to help guide business decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly accounting close processes, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and reporting deadlines are met.

• Manage general ledger activity and review journal entries to maintain complete and reliable financial records.

• Prepare and analyze financial reports, identifying trends, variances, and areas requiring management attention.

• Oversee account reconciliation work to confirm balances are properly supported and resolved in a timely manner.

• Coordinate audit preparation and provide documentation needed for financial statement reviews and external audit requests.

• Monitor adherence to accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and internal control standards within the operation.

• Partner with operational and finance teams to investigate discrepancies and improve the quality of financial data

Qualifications:

• Proven experience performing month-end close responsibilities in a complex accounting environment.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger management and financial reporting practices.
• Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing journal entries with a high level of accuracy.
• Demonstrated ability to complete and review account reconciliations thoroughly and on schedule.
• Familiarity with financial statement audits and supporting audit documentation requests.
• Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial results and resolve accounting issues effectively.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills to manage deadlines and collaborate across teams.

Compensation

$39.59-$45.84 Hourly
