Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who can manage core financial activities with accuracy, maintain organized records, and contribute to timely month-end processes. The role will focus on general ledger support, reconciliations, transaction review, and financial documentation while working across key accounting functions.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank activity, and supporting schedules to identify and resolve discrepancies.

• Review banking transactions and account activity to ensure entries are recorded correctly and completely.

• Support accounts payable processing by verifying documentation, coding expenses, and assisting with payment-related records.

• Assist with billing activities and monitor open balances to help maintain accurate customer account status.

• Generate and review aging reports to track outstanding items and support follow-up on overdue balances.

• Examine bank statements and internal records to confirm consistency across financial data.

• Use NetSuite and Microsoft Excel to organize accounting information, prepare reports, and analyze account details.

Qualifications:

• Experience performing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accuracy in an accounting environment that requires strong attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet account review.
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system used for accounting operations.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills for tracking data, reviewing transactions, and preparing financial support schedules.
• Familiarity with accounts payable, billing processes, and routine account transaction review.
• Ability to interpret aging reports, bank statements, and other financial records with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage recurring accounting deadlines.

Compensation

$25.00-$27.00 Hourly
