Full Charge Bookkeeper

We are looking for an accomplished Full Charge Bookkeeper to join a growing organization in Santa Ana, California on a Long-term Contract basis. This opportunity is ideal for someone who can step into a complex accounting environment, correct existing discrepancies, and strengthen day-to-day financial accuracy. The role centers on improving the integrity of bookkeeping records, supporting audit preparation, and bringing a proactive, hands-on approach to accounting operations.

Responsibilities:
• Investigate balance sheet variances and resolve accounting discrepancies to restore accurate financial records.
• Perform detailed clean-up of bookkeeping data and organize documentation to support audit preparedness.
• Review general ledger activity, reconcile key accounts, and identify items requiring correction or follow-up.
• Create and record journal entries with appropriate support to maintain complete and accurate books.
• Assess current accounting workflows and introduce more effective bookkeeping procedures and internal controls.
• Manage accounting activities within QuickBooks Online, ensuring transactions are recorded correctly and efficiently.
• Support month-end close tasks by preparing reconciliations, schedules, and related financial documentation.
• Advise leadership on practical bookkeeping improvements that promote stronger compliance and long-term accuracy.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience in a fast-paced or operationally complex business setting.
• Advanced hands-on expertise with QuickBooks Online.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and balance sheet account reconciliation.
• Experience contributing to audit preparation or helping an organization become audit-ready is preferred.
• Background in public accounting or prior experience with an accounting firm is highly valued.
• CPA designation is a plus, but not required for candidates who bring strong practical bookkeeping depth.
• Ability to work independently, evaluate issues quickly, and deliver effective solutions with minimal oversight.

Compensation

$40.00-$45.00 Hourly
