Full-Charge Bookkeeper
Our small construction industry client is seeking a hands-on Full-Charge Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day accounting functions for the business. This role requires prior construction industry experience and a strong understanding of job costing, including tracking project expenses, labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and budget-to-actual reporting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, supporting leadership with timely financial reporting, and ensuring accurate accounting across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
- Maintain accurate financial records and support month-end and year-end close processes
- Perform job costing for multiple construction projects, including allocation of labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses
- Track project budgets, change orders, committed costs, and budget-to-actual variances
- Process and reconcile subcontractor payments, lien waivers, and vendor invoices
- Support customer billing, including progress billing, time and materials billing, and retainage tracking
- Prepare internal financial statements, cash flow reporting, and job cost reports for ownership/management
- Monitor WIP schedules and assist with revenue recognition reporting as needed
- Maintain payroll records, including certified payroll if applicable
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, sales tax, and other regulatory requirements relevant to the construction industry
- Work closely with project managers and ownership to provide insight into project profitability and cost control
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a Full-Charge Bookkeeper, with direct construction industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of construction accounting processes, including progress billing, retainage, subcontractor management, and project-based accounting
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Foundation, or other construction-related ERP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently in a small business environment and communicate effectively with management and project teams
- 100% in office role - No Remote Work

Compensation
