The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Neurology, would like to hire a qualified Biobank Supervisor (Clinical Research Coordinator).
Directs the day-to-day operations of the biobank, ensuring adherence to best practices in biospecimen collection, processing, storage, and utilization of inventory management systems.
- Oversees patient consent processes and documentation, ensuring compliance with IRB protocols, regulatory requirements, and grant-specific guidelines; trains, supervises, and coordinates staff involved in biospecimen collection and handling.
- Manages data and sample workflows, including organization, protocol development, quality control, and preliminary analysis of biospecimen data and sample integrity.
- Supervises project budget and supports grant related submissions, while ensuring full compliance with institutional, federal, and sponsor-related requirements.
Masters Preferred, Bachelor’s Degree acceptable with 2 years clinical research or laboratory experience.
Job Summary
Prepares grant applications, manuscripts, Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, research papers, and assists with complex research papers. Audits research studies, monitors study budgets, resolves complex data collection issues, and implements protocol-specific study recruitment plans. Trains staff and oversees student workers; leads team meetings. Monitors study budgets and orders supplies.
Essential Functions
Prepares grant applications, performs literature reviews, and prepares manuscripts for publication; writes research papers and assists with writing complex papers. • Oversees and prepares IRB applications. • Reviews/audits research studies; assists with next step determination. • Monitors study budgets and expenditures. Maintains and orders supplies as needed. • Assesses protocol feasibility; establishes protocol-specific recruitment plans.• Trains staff and oversees the work of student workers as directed.• Communicates effectively with study participants and potential community recruits. Identifies community education opportunities. • Facilitates research/project team meetings. • Resolves complex data collection issues. Physical Effort
Moderate physical effort required. May be required to get around a university setting for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
