Job Summary
Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.
Essential Functions
The Research Technician should have experience in molecular biology research, with experience in rodent and molecular toxicology studies being highly preferred. The successful candidate will perform experiments and data analysis in accordance with established standards and procedures under the supervision of the Principal Investigators.
Research within the laboratories focuses on:
- Investigating the effects of exposure to environmental stressors on disease development.
- Examining the role of epigenetic mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of asthma and other human diseases.
- Studying gene-environment interactions utilizing both experimental models and human population-based studies.
The main responsibilities include maintaining accurate records of animal care and use, handling animals safely for routine procedures, isolating nucleic acids from biospecimens, and performing molecular biology assays (including, but not limited to, RT-qPCR, cloning, and sequencing).
The Research Technician III will also conduct advanced scientific data analysis using independent judgment and relevant research background. Additionally, this role involves supervising student research assistants during experimental execution and data analysis, managing sample collection, coordinating the purchase of laboratory supplies and reagents, and maintaining laboratory equipment.

May be required to stand or move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 20 pounds.
