Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

Prepare and maintain dry paper material to be treated through the melamine treater for production usage. While focusing on visual quality, make sure machines are running efficient at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Work with management and the checkers to coordinate the running of the rolls scheduled for treatment.

2. Line rolls up to be treated and load on machines.

3. Obtain correct rolls (oldest P.O. first) of material and prepare for staging on unwind turret.

4. Check each roll for visual quality before it is to be run, vacuum or brush ends of rolls.

5. Prepare rolls of paper for splicing and make splice, keep tags from rolls to turn-in.

6. Thread and rethread machines as needed.

7. Set recipe/mix on blenders to meet specifications set by Product Quality Department specific to the material being run.

8. Follow all ISO procedures as written.

9. Keep machine running smoothly and efficiently, record and check off material run from schedule.

10. Maintain neat and accurate wet-end log and bar code system or ORACLE system.

11. Continual emphasis on quality during shift.

12. Help keep treater downtime to a minimum.

13. Keep area and machines clean, follow all cleaning procedures.

14. Regular attendance required.

Performs other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of products, treaters and the treatment of raw material.
  • Operate equipment and machinery in a safe manner.
  • Ability to operate lift truck equipment safely.
  • Ability to read tape measure.
  • Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the Melamine department and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials and safe handling procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

High School Graduate or GED

EXPERIENCE:

One year of work experience to include 6 months of Stacker experience and have working knowledge of all relevant Oracle transactions. If no candidate possesses this, the company will accept one year of industrial experience and have a good working knowledge of computers.

WORKING CONDITIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Heavy work. Tasks involves pushing / pulling of material up to 100lbs, lifting up to 85lbs from floor to mid-thigh, lift up to 50lbs from mid-thigh to shoulder, lift 40lbs from shoulder to overhead, carry up to 135lbs and standing and walking during a minimum ten hour shift.

ENVIRONMENT:

Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. Examples: engineering, waste mgt, laundry workers and yards/grounds staff
