Position Description

This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic patient flow and serving as the primary contact for patients. Responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Work is performed in usual clinic conditions and requires a high degree of contact of both direct with patients, HSC staff and insurance companies. Employees have cash-handling responsibilities.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Schedules patient appointments by phone and inperson
  • Patient Check-in and Checkout
  • Ensure accurate and complete entry of patient information.
  • Responsible for complete and accurate insurance benefits eligibilty, including referrals and prior authorizations.
  • Collecting patient co-payments, co-insurance and surgery deductibles.


Occasional Duties

Other duties as assigned by Administrator.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years Customer Service, office, or related experience with 2 of those years in a healthcare or dental clinic setting preferred. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Billingual English/Spanish
  • Experience in a clinical setting
