Associate Attorney (Personal Injury)

Robert Half Legal has partnered with a mid-sized plaintiff's law firm in downtown Chicago on an Associate Attorney (Personal Injury) position. This attorney will manage a caseload of plaintiff personal injury matters from initial filing through resolution, including settlement, mediation, and trial. The ideal candidate will be a strong advocate with litigation experience, exceptional client service skills, and a desire to help injured clients obtain favorable outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of plaintiff personal injury and workers compensation matters from filing through resolution
• Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and discovery responses
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts
• Attend and argue motions, status hearings, case management conferences, and other court appearances
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda in support of litigation strategy
• Negotiate settlements with insurance carriers and opposing counsel throughout the litigation process
• Collaborate with clients, experts, and medical providers to develop and advance cases
• Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, and trial
• Participate in trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit organization, and courtroom support

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary ranging from $80,000–$110,000+, depending on experience

Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active license and good standing with the IL State Bar.
• 0-3+ years of civil litigation experience on either the plaintiff or defense side.
• Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures.
• Experience handling written discovery, depositions, motion practice, and case management.
• Experience with personal injury or workers compensation preferred.
• Excellent legal writing, research, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
• Trial experience is highly preferred.
