Accounts Receivable

We are looking for an Accounts Receivable specialist to support a busy utility billing operation in Santa Barbara, California. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public, communicates clearly, and can manage in-person payment transactions with accuracy and care. The role blends front-counter customer interaction with billing support, making it a strong fit for someone who is comfortable handling cash, resolving account questions, and using accounting systems in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Accept in-person utility bill payments and process cash, checks, and credit card transactions accurately.

• Assist customers at the front counter by answering billing questions and providing courteous service, including during challenging interactions.

• Research customer accounts in billing and accounting systems to confirm balances, payment activity, and account details.

• Record transactions carefully and maintain accurate accounts receivable documentation for daily operations.

• Support the utility billing team during periods of high transaction volume, including busy renewal cycles and peak customer traffic.

• Balance cashiering activities and reconcile payment information to help ensure financial accuracy.

• Use computerized billing and accounting platforms to enter, review, and update customer payment records.

• Coordinate with internal team members to keep payment processing and account support running smoothly on site.

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of experience in accounts receivable, billing, cashiering, or a related administrative support role.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate professionally with a wide range of individuals.
• Experience handling cash and processing payments with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Comfort using computers to look up accounts, enter transactions, and navigate billing or accounting software.
• Ability to remain calm and helpful when assisting customers who may be confused or frustrated about their bills.
• Basic numerical skills and confidence working with financial information in a fast-paced setting.
• Availability to work fully on site in Santa Barbara, California.

Compensation

$21.00-$23.00 Hourly
