Accounting Specialist

We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join a Financial Services organization in Plano, Texas on a Contract basis. This position supports both payables and receivables activities, with a stronger emphasis on accounts payable, and is well suited for someone who can manage daily transaction processing with accuracy and consistency. The role is based in the office each day and offers a regular daytime schedule with some flexibility around start and end times.

Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounts payable operations, including preparing check runs and assigning accurate accounting codes to invoices and related transactions.
• Support accounts receivable activity by recording incoming borrower payments and ensuring transactions are applied correctly and on time.
• Process financial entries across multiple platforms, including loan servicing and accounting systems used by the organization.
• Prepare and post manual journal entries as needed, following established accounting controls and documentation standards.
• Use BlackLine to submit and record journal entry activity within the month-to-month accounting workflow.
• Reconcile account activity to confirm payment postings, disbursements, and balances are complete and accurate.
• Assist with billing and general accounting tasks that contribute to efficient daily financial operations.
• Maintain organized records and communicate with internal teams to resolve payment discrepancies or coding issues promptly.

Qualifications:

• Experience handling both accounts payable and accounts receivable responsibilities in a detail-oriented accounting environment.
• Working knowledge of billing processes, payment application, and account reconciliation practices.
• Ability to code transactions accurately and manage high-volume daily financial activity with strong attention to detail.
• Experience preparing or posting journal entries within an accounting system.
• Proficiency in general accounting functions and comfort working across more than one financial platform.
• Intermediate Excel skills are preferred, including the ability to work with pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
• Availability to work on site in Plano, Texas during standard business hours with some schedule flexibility.

Compensation

$22.96-$26.59 Hourly
