Accounts Receivable Specialist

Compensation: $24 Hourly

We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join a non-profit organization in Austin, Texas on a Contract basis. In this role, you will support the timely processing of incoming revenue, donor payments, and program-related funding across a multifaceted operating environment. The position is ideal for someone who can manage billing accuracy, investigate account discrepancies, and maintain organized financial records while working closely with both internal teams and external contacts.

Responsibilities:
• Process and record incoming receivable activity related to revenue, contributions, funding sources, and customer payments in accordance with established financial controls.
• Prepare, review, and issue invoices, ensuring billing details are accurate, complete, and aligned with supporting documentation.
• Monitor customer accounts to identify discrepancies, research billing concerns, and resolve outstanding issues in a timely and thorough manner.
• Partner with departments and external stakeholders to address payment questions, clarify account activity, and support smooth collection efforts.
• Produce receivables reporting, including updates on aging balances and delinquent accounts, to assist with financial tracking and follow-up.
• Reconcile accounts receivable records to the general ledger within required deadlines and investigate variances as needed.
• Perform assigned monthly balance sheet reconciliations and contribute to month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Maintain organized financial files and documentation to support audit readiness, compliance, and record retention requirements.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One to three years of experience in accounting or finance with demonstrated growth in responsibility.
• Working knowledge of accounts receivable processes, including billing, cash application, collections, and cash activity management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Dynamics 365.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectively.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with customers, stakeholders, and team members.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment and seek support when necessary to meet expectations.

Compensation

$24.00-$24.00 Hourly
