Part-Time Sr. Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to provide high-level accounting and financial insight for a contract position based in Cranbury, NJ on a part-time basis. This role will support leadership with accurate reporting, forward-looking analysis, and practical recommendations that help guide business decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound business judgment, and the ability to communicate financial performance clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Create monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports that deliver meaningful insight to company leadership.
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities by evaluating assumptions, tracking results, and identifying material variances.
• Interpret financial performance data, highlighting patterns, risks, and improvement opportunities for management review.
• Build and maintain reporting tools, financial models, and dashboard summaries used for business planning and oversight.
• Review budget-versus-actual results and recommend actions to improve financial performance and spending control.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including analysis of account balances, reconciliations, and financial statement accuracy.
• Collaborate with operational and departmental leaders to develop budgets and monitor expenses against approved plans.
• Investigate accounting questions, strengthen reporting processes, and support improvements that increase accuracy and efficiency.
• Provide documentation and analysis for audits, compliance needs, and other special projects as requested.
Qualifications:
• At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on work in reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statement preparation.
• Experience preparing presentations and reports for executive audiences and explaining results in a clear, business-focused manner.
• Advanced Excel capabilities, including financial modeling, PivotTables, and complex data analysis functions.
• Familiarity with major ERP or accounting platforms such as NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, or similar systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Compensation
