Paralegal
Responsibilities:
• Prepare, format, and electronically file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and objections while ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
• Compile, label, and organize exhibits, appendices, and supporting records for court filings and trial preparation.
• Draft, respond to, and manage written discovery materials, including document requests and related case correspondence.
• Obtain medical records and billing documentation, then track and maintain case-related summaries for attorney review.
• Keep client files orderly, current, and accessible by managing both physical and electronic case records.
• Assist attorneys with trial readiness by coordinating materials, deadlines, and litigation support tasks.
• Perform general office and case administration duties that help maintain efficient workflow across active litigation matters.
• Use legal case management software, such as Smokeball or similar platforms, to support document organization and case tracking.
Qualifications:
• At least 1 year of prior paralegal experience supporting medical malpractice and/or personal injury litigation. • Demonstrated knowledge of civil litigation procedures, including discovery and trial preparation activities. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and case priorities effectively. • Experience preparing court filings and handling e-filing processes in a litigation setting. • Ability to work in-office in Chicago, Illinois and provide dependable support to busy trial attorneys. • Proficiency in managing case documents, medical records, and detailed client files with a high level of accuracy. • Familiarity with case management software; experience with Smokeball is preferred.pay range for this position is $30 to $32.
