Payroll Specialist
We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a government organization in Fort Myers, Florida. This Contract position requires someone who can manage end-to-end payroll activities with accuracy and consistency across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience handling large employee populations, maintaining compliance, and using Oracle to process payroll efficiently.
Responsibilities:
• Process full-cycle payroll for a large employee base, ensuring timely and accurate wage payments, deductions, and adjustments.
• Administer multi-state payroll activities while following applicable tax regulations, wage laws, and reporting requirements.
• Use Oracle to manage payroll transactions, review data, and resolve processing issues efficiently.
• Audit payroll records to verify employee information, hours, earnings, benefits, and withholding details before final submission.
• Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies by partnering with internal stakeholders and maintaining clear documentation.
• Prepare payroll-related reports and support recordkeeping needs for compliance, reconciliation, and internal review.
• Monitor payroll deadlines and coordinate all steps required to complete each payroll cycle without delays.
• Support payroll-related updates and process changes within the payroll system as needed to maintain accurate operations.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll from data review through final processing and reconciliation.• Background handling multi-state payroll with solid knowledge of payroll tax and compliance requirements.
• Hands-on proficiency with ADP Workforce Now in a payroll processing environment.
• Experience supporting payroll for organizations with more than 500 employees.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a high-volume payroll setting.
• Ability to identify discrepancies, research issues, and implement timely corrections.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work professionally with cross-functional teams.
Compensation
