Payroll Administrator
We are looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator to oversee accurate and compliant payroll delivery for employees assigned to government contracts. This role supports a workforce of approximately 500 employees across multiple pay schedules and requires a strong understanding of union pay rules, prevailing wage requirements, and contract-specific benefit obligations. You will collaborate closely with payroll and internal business partners to ensure each payroll cycle is processed with precision while meeting federal, state, local, and union-related requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Administer end-to-end payroll processing for weekly, biweekly, and semimonthly schedules serving employees across multiple active contracts.
• Handle payroll activities tied to government contracting environments, ensuring contract terms and labor requirements are applied correctly.
• Apply union wage scales, prevailing wage determinations, Davis-Bacon requirements, and fringe benefit calculations to payroll records with accuracy.
• Review payroll obligations that differ by state, county, and collective bargaining agreement to maintain compliance across jurisdictions.
• Coordinate health and welfare, pension, and related benefit components associated with union and government contract payroll.
• Work with internal departments to research discrepancies, validate payroll data, and support accurate employee compensation.
• Respond to payroll-related questions from employees, managers, and stakeholders in a clear and thorough manner.
• Provide payroll support for existing contracts as well as newly awarded work, including setup and ongoing administration.
• Utilize payroll systems and reporting tools such as ADP Workforce Now and Microsoft Office to manage records and support payroll operations.
Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of payroll experience, including ownership of full-cycle payroll processing.• Background supporting payroll within government contracting organizations.
• Working knowledge of union payroll practices, including wage rates, benefit obligations, and pension-related considerations.
• Experience interpreting and applying prevailing wage rules, fringe benefits, and Davis-Bacon requirements.
• Ability to manage payroll across multiple states and pay frequencies with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with employees and internal teams.
• Proficiency with payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now and standard Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with Deltek or Costpoint is beneficial, though not required.
Compensation
