Accounting Specialist

We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to support day-to-day financial operations in Hoover, Alabama. This contract opportunity has the potential to become a permanent position and is ideal for someone who brings strong accounting fundamentals, enjoys working with detailed financial records, and can contribute across both payables and receivables activities. The role offers the chance to make an immediate impact while building toward a long-term position with the team.

Responsibilities:

• Manage invoice processing and record financial transactions accurately to keep daily accounting activity current and organized.

• Prepare and support customer billing, monitor incoming payments, and assist with collection follow-up to help maintain healthy receivable balances.

• Reconcile accounts on a regular basis, research variances, and resolve discrepancies to preserve the accuracy of financial records.

• Maintain bookkeeping data across accounting systems and files with careful attention to completeness and detail.

• Assist with routine billing documentation and provide administrative accounting support for ongoing operational needs.

• Compile financial and historical information for reporting, analysis, and accounting-related projects, including preparation tied to future system initiatives.

• Partner with internal team members to support efficient accounting workflows and contribute to overall department effectiveness.

Qualifications:

• Experience supporting core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing activities.
• Working knowledge of account reconciliation and the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
• Background in construction accounting is required.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable handling high-volume transaction entry and organizing financial information across multiple records.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members while managing routine accounting responsibilities independently.

Compensation

$24.00-$27.00 Hourly
