Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations and help maintain accurate reporting for our Midland, Texas team. This position plays an important role in keeping accounting records current, supporting compliance activities, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in general ledger activity, tax preparation, and account reconciliation, along with a detail-oriented approach to financial accuracy.

Responsibilities:
• Maintain complete and accurate financial records by recording transactions and updating accounting documentation on a regular basis.
• Prepare journal entries and support general ledger activity to ensure timely and reliable month-end accounting processes.
• Review financial reports and supporting data to confirm accuracy and alignment with applicable regulations and accounting standards.
• Complete bank reconciliations each month and investigate discrepancies to keep cash records balanced and current.
• Prepare and file corporate tax and sales tax documents in accordance with reporting deadlines and compliance requirements.
• Examine account activity and bookkeeping records to identify errors, improve accuracy, and strengthen financial controls.
• Assemble schedules, reports, and supporting materials needed for external audit requests and year-end review activities.
• Analyze financial information and provide practical recommendations that support cost management and revenue improvement efforts.

Qualifications:

• Experience in staff accounting or a similar accounting role with responsibility for daily financial recordkeeping.
• Working knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return preparation.
• Proficiency in preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accuracy.
• Experience performing bank reconciliations and reviewing account activity for completeness and correctness.
• Familiarity with financial statement review and accounting documentation standards.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain detailed records.
• High level of accuracy, analytical thinking, and commitment to financial compliance.
