Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day financial operations for an engineering organization in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. This Contract position focuses on processing vendor payments accurately, reviewing invoice details, and helping maintain timely accounts payable workflows. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with high-volume transactions, applying coding standards, and ensuring payment activity is completed with precision.

Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices from receipt through payment while verifying accuracy, approvals, and supporting documentation
• Assign correct general ledger or account codes to invoices to ensure expenses are recorded properly
• Prepare and execute payment activities, including ACH transactions and scheduled check runs, in accordance with deadlines
• Review invoice data for discrepancies and resolve issues by coordinating with internal stakeholders and vendors
• Maintain organized accounts payable records and documentation to support audit readiness and reporting needs
• Monitor outstanding payables and help ensure obligations are completed within established payment terms
• Assist with routine reconciliation tasks related to accounts payable transactions and vendor balances

Qualifications:

• Experience handling accounts payable functions in a business environment that requires attention to detail
• Working knowledge of invoice coding and account allocation practices
• Familiarity with ACH processing and check payment cycles
• Ability to review financial documents carefully and identify inconsistencies
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Proficiency using accounting or ERP systems and standard business software
• Effective communication skills for working with vendors and internal teams

Compensation

$24.00-$28.00 Hourly
